At 35,700 acres, Lake McConaughy is the largest lake in Nebraska and is three and a half times larger than the largest lake in Colorado. "Big Mac" offers 100 miles of shore line, mostly covered in soft sand beaches.

With warm shallows and cool, clear, deep waters, a wide array of fish habitats populate the lake. Walleye is the most prized catch, but White Bass, Striped Bass, Cat Fish, and Rainbow Trout can also be found here.

Over 300 species of birds, including bald eagles, have been identified on or near the shores of the lakes. Nationally renowned as a bird watcher's paradise, the lake offers one of the most diverse bird populations in the nation.

The Ogallala Yacht Club sponsors TransMac, which highlights the lake's long history with yacht racing, along with several Hobie Cat Fleet 61 racing events. Consistent winds and warm waters make sailing enjoyable for the casual sailor as well.

As reported by Avid Golfer, Bayside Golf Club delivers an "entertaining and exciting challenge." A top public course in Nebraska, this gem sits at the feet of Eagle Bay Townhomes. We even have a golf cart path to the course! Designed by Dan Proctor and Dave Axland (of Sand Hills fame), Bayside offers a diverse layout with spectacular views of the lake.

Quickly turning into an Eagle Bay unofficial tradition, weekend campfires provide a great place for residents to establish and grow friendships in the community. The strength of participation in this event has led to plans for a new gazebo to be used by the homeowners.
